“The ten track conceptual release (Life…is a Fraction) reeks of self-conscious ambition but follows up on it. It’s Elsewhere’s big bid to elicit the sort of global critical attention and respect that doesn’t come along often and can be parlayed into a measure of mainstream success.”

Until recently, Boston-based prog leaning alt/power-pop/new wave trio “Elsewhere” had been best known for their single “Don’t You Believe Me Baby” – a dynamic cover of a previously unrecorded early 80’s Police song.
That atypical release helped the band generate over half a million streams on Spotify and score a full-page story in the Boston Herald; forever tying the band to Sting & Co. This was soon followed up by the “banthem” (ballad/anthem) “The Pledge”, mixed by Grammy Nominated producer Mark Needham (The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Pink, Elton John), which broke important ground by tackling the often-taboo subject of Alzheimer’s Disease. This helped build from the initial foundation the band had laid via playing festivals, showcases, and some of the top clubs in New England and New York following breakout press coverage in Europe.
Now, Elsewhere’s ambitious new concept album Life…is a Fraction shows that the band has reached a creative zenith; an original rock epic that shakes the foundations not only of what everyone has expected from the New England trio, but also of the lives of everyone who listens…Influenced by classic works of prog rock legends like Rush, Yes and Genesis, this album weaves together a fascinating, semi-autobiographical narrative about a protagonist’s unwitting discovery of the fractional theory of incremental time perception following a troubling diagnosis. In short, the main character chillingly discovers that time speeds up incrementally as he/she grows older, so much so that they can now see time move. The thought provoking 10-part suite matches arena like prog rock with modern alt/power pop and allows the listener to digest a deeper concept in hooky 3-minute increments. This work by the trio seeks to be genre defying and in today’s rock landscape potentially revolutionary…

“Supporting Our Lady Peace on this stop in Boston is Elsewhere. Elsewhere is a progressive-alt/power-pop trio from Boston. With multiple EPs, singles, and a studio album, they have gained a strong following in Boston and beyond, since their inception. The members that make up Elsewhere include Michael Aroian (guitar/lead vocals), Kevin Swaluk (bass), and Adam Soucy (drums). Being Boston natives, they definitely brought their fanbase with them on this local performance. At one point, they wished a happy birthday to a friend in the crowd which produced cheers and applause. The fans in attendance were singing along with some of the songs and were moving to the music. The set included their new singles, “Call You Out” and “The Pledge.” After their energetic set, the crowd was primed for the main event.”
